Horn mod for aftermarket steering wheels

Horn mod for aftermarket steering wheels

So, this may be common knowledge but still for those who are not aware.

When you are putting an aftermarket steering wheel on a supra. There is an easy, cheap oem way to keep the horn from working like stock.

The jza70 supra (and those without cruise control) have a pin with a spring connecting the horn to the hub.

You can still order this piece for less than 10$ from Toyota. The part number is: 84312-20011. All you have to do is take off the slip ring and cut the cruise control wires (optional is rewiring this to switches at the dash if you want to keep cruise control) and connect the horn wire to the pin. I have checked both pre 89 and 89+ and both have the hole pre-made for the pin.
